FROM HOLLYWOOD TO HOOK! HENRY WINKLER TO STAR IN PETER PAN AT MILTON KEYNES THEATRE
Issued : 10 July 2008
Legendary TV and film actor Henry Winkler will be the bad guy you love to hate this Christmas as he heads up the crew of dastardly pirates as the villainous Captain Hook hoping to steal the show in this year’s magical pantomime – Peter Pan
As one of the first American stars ever to be cast in a British pantomime by First Family Entertainment who produce the hugely successful show each year at Milton Keynes Theatre, Henry Winkler is delighted to be playing the perfect panto villain in the city this year - "Being in panto equals joy, and playing Captain Hook gives me joy. How great to share this fantastic adventure with the audience in Milton Keynes", he said.
Speaking about the announcement, Milton Keynes Theatre’s Chief Executive Elizabeth Adlington said “We are extremely privileged that such an iconic international star will be enjoying the family pantomime tradition here in Milton Keynes, and I look forward to welcoming him to our theatre”.
Making her panto debut alongside Henry is TV star Louisa Lytton, who will be flying high in the title role of Peter Pan. Best known for her critically acclaimed roles as gangster’s daughter Ruby Allen in BBC1’s Eastenders and more recently as the likeable PC Beth Green in ITV1’s long-running police drama The Bill, Louisa was also a much-loved participant on the BBC’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing.
She won the Sexiest Female award at the British Soap Awards in 2006 for her role in Eastenders, and this year took a break from The Bill to put her dancing shoes back on for the Strictly Come Dancing National Tour. She has also appeared in films such as Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and Ali G In Da House.
Louisa said “I am so excited to be making my pantomime debut in Milton Keynes this Christmas, and what a way to start my panto career - playing Peter Pan which is such a great role and working with a brilliant cast. I never thought I would be sword-fighting with Henry Winkler!”
Hilarious comedian Andy Ford (Royal Variety Performance) also stars as Captain Hook’s silly sidekick Smee.
Peter Pan is the perfect adventure for kids, and adults who never never grew up, with stunning special effects, amazing flying, and dazzling sets! So grab a magical sprinkling of fairy dust and fly away to Neverland this Christmas as this magnificent and swashbuckling adventure comes to Milton Keynes Theatre from 5th December 2008 to 18th January 2009
