NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR THEATRE ROYAL BRIGHTON
Issued : 9 August 2002
ATG have appointed a new Chief Executive for the Theatre Royal Brighton who will take over from Acting General Manager Chris Haylett.
Julien Boast, who is a Brighton resident, will take over the running of Brighton’s premier venue at the beginning of September having recently been Director of Production at Victor Mara Ltd and Head of Production at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry,
Julien, who has also been an Associate on the Disabled Apprenticeship Scheme with the Arts Council of England, said “I’m very excited at the prospect of working for ATG at one of the premier regional venues in the country. Brighton is a vibrant and culturally rich city with the Theatre Royal as the market leader.
Acting General Manager Chris Haylett has been at the Theatre Royal Brighton since January having worked for ATG for three years prior to that as Theatre Manager of Woking. Chris is now joining the Senior Management Team of Ambassadors as the Group Head of Operations based in Woking and in London.
Since Chris has been in post, the Theatre Royal Brighton has had an excellent year with audience figures breaking previous Box Office records and the autumn season looking set to do the same. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, starring Lesley Joseph, is already on track to be Brighton’s most popular pantomime ever and both the Corporate Sponsorship and Friends Schemes are thriving.
Chris said “The last eight months at Brighton have been fantastic and I’m extremely proud of what the venue has achieved since I’ve been Acting General Manager. I’m very much looking forward to my new role as Group Head of Operations for ATG and am sure that Julien and his team will successfully move the Theatre Royal forward through its next phase of exciting growth.
