NEW HEAD OF REGIONAL PROGRAMMING TO BE APPOINTED AT AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP

Issued : 24 November 2004

The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) will shortly announce the appointment of a new Head of Regional Programming, as Rachel Tackley leaves the company in May next year to pursue freelance producing and other interests.

Since 2002 Rachel, has been responsible for programming ATG’s 11 regional venues including the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, the New Victoria Theatre in Woking and Milton Keynes Theatre. Rachel has been responsible for bringing such large-scale musicals as Miss Saigon, Chicago and Cats to ATG’s larger theatres as well as delivering a varied programme of high-quality drama to theatres such as Richmond Theatre and the Theatre Royal Brighton.

ATG is currently the second largest theatre group both in the West End and separately, in the UK regions, with a total of 23 venues. ATG is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind some of the most successful and innovative productions in Britain and internationally including Simply Heavenly and Sweeney Todd in the West End and Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! in London and on worldwide tour. Through its subsidiary company Sonia Friedman Productions, ATG is currently co-producing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new smash hit musical The Woman In White and is shortly to produce Ewan McGregor in the Donmar production of Guys and Dolls, directed by Michael Grandage in the West End.

Howard Panter, Managing Director, ATG
“We are very sorry that Rachel is leaving the company as she has been such an important part of ATG’s success in the regions. We have appreciated her tenacity and charm and will miss the drive and enthusiasm that she has brought to the company. We wish her every success for the future and we may be producing with her soon.”

Rachel Tackley
“Working with ATG has been immensely varied and rewarding. It has given me the opportunity to work with a huge number of producers and to work on a vast range of productions from large-scale musicals to intimate dramas. I have enjoyed the last few years enormously and look forward to seeking new challenges.”
