RUPERT GAVIN IS APPONITED NEW CHAIRMAN OF SCREENSTAGE

Rupert Gavin has been appointed the new Chairman of ScreenStage, the ITV plc / Ambassador Theatre Group joint venture.
ScreenStage was established as a production and development company, with a free and wide remit to produce both television and live performance projects that have cross-over and/or multi media potential.
ScreenStage has filmed several productions to date, including Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! (for BBC One); A Day in the Death of Joe Egg starring Eddie Izzard; Vincent in Brixton by Nicholas Wright and directed for television by Richard Eyre; On An Average Day starring Woody Harrelson and Kyle MacLachlan and Three Sisters starring Kristin Scott Thomas (all for BBC Four).
Current ScreenStage developments include Bad Girls The Musical – a live stage musical based on the hugely-popular TV drama series, which is being developed and produced in partnership with Shed Productions. ScreenStage is also producing a stage adaptation of the classic film Midnight Cowboy and a new theatre-based factual entertainment series.
Rupert Gavin has had an extensive and varied career in media, retailing, entertainment and communications. Most recently, he spent six years as Chief Executive of BBC Worldwide, responsible for all of the BBC’s commercial consumer activities around the world. Prior to this, Rupert was with British Telecom, joining as Director of ICE (Information, Communications and Entertainment) in 1994, before being promoted to Director of Multimedia Services and Managing Director of BT’s Consumer Division. Rupert is a Board member of the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG).
ATG is currently the largest theatre group in the West End and, separately, in the UK regions, with a total of 23 venues. It is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind some highly successful and innovative co-productions in Britain and internationally, including Sweeney Todd and Simply Heavenly (both currently in the West End). It also wholly owns Sonia Friedman Productions and has other joint venture companies.
