AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP APPOINTS PETER KAVANAGH AS BUSINESS AFFAIRS DIRECTOR TO DRIVE EXPANSION

Issued : 23 January 2007

To advance its strategic expansion, Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has announced the appointment of Peter Kavanagh to the new senior executive director role of Business Affairs Director.

This is the first appointment to be made as part of ATG’s international expansion, which will see the company expand further into Europe and North America and produce its productions around the world including three in Australia and Asia.

As Business Affairs Director, Peter will develop ATG’s business planning and corporate strategy, evaluating new opportunities in the UK and abroad. He will also maximize the company’s intellectual property rights and further develop ATG’s worldwide co-production activity, which will involve the opening of a New York office to develop the company’s growth in the United States.

Peter has worked closely with ATG for over 10 years, as the company’s principal external legal advisor. He has been instrumental in ATG’s growth and expansion, from strategic planning through to acquisitions and joint ventures, including the formation of First Family Entertainment, the major joint pantomime and family entertainment company with Live Nation.

For the past 5 years, Peter has been a partner at Hunton & Williams, where he has represented a wide variety of the world’s leading companies in international mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. Previously, Peter was a partner at Theodore Goddard for thirteen years (1989 – 2002), serving as managing partner from 1997 – 1999.

Co-founded by Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire in 1992, ATG is currently the largest theatre group in the West End and separately, the second largest in the UK regions, with a total of 24 venues. ATG is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind some of the most successful and innovative productions, including Porgy and Bess at the Savoy, Michael Grandage’s award winning Guys and Dolls starring Don Johnson at the Piccadilly, The New Statesman starring Rik Mayall at the Trafalgar Studios, The Rocky Horror Show starring David Bedella at the Comedy Theatre and Stephen Sondheim’s Company on Broadway.

Howard Panter, Managing Director, ATG, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Peter to the Executive Board of ATG. He has been a vital part of our growth and success over the last 10 years. Peter’s enthusiasm, commitment, knowledge and wealth of experience will be a tremendous asset to the company as we seek to expand internationally over the next years.”

Peter Kavanagh said:
“It is an enormously exciting time to be joining ATG. The group has a fantastic platform for further expansion and significant intellectual property rights, which have considerable international potential. The ATG management team is highly regarded in the industry and I’m very much looking forward to joining the team and playing my part in continuing the ATG success story.”
