NIGEL HAVERS TO CHARM RICHMOND THEATRE AUDIENCES
Issued : 7 June 2007
This Christmas, the wonderful story of Cinderella comes to the home of traditional family pantomime - Richmond Theatre. Sheer charm is at the heart of this ultimate romantic fairy tale in the shape of star of stage and screen Nigel Havers, who will be appearing as Baron Hardup.
Nigel Havers, of Chariots of Fire fame, last appeared at Richmond Theatre in the best-selling show in the theatre’s history - Rebecca, which returned for a second week due to popular demand. His performance as Maxim de Winter also got him an entry into the Guinness Book of Records for achieving record-breaking audiences across the country.
Appearing alongside Nigel Havers is Paul Zerdin, as Buttons. “Zerdin not only supplies likeable tomfoolery, but some truly jaw-dropping ventriloquism as he introduces us to his puppet sidekick, a wilful little boy called Sam.” Sam Marlowe – The Times on Paul Zerdin’s appearance in panto last year at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking.
Ticket sales are set to soar as the invite to the most magical fairytale panto of them all lands on doorsteps and panto-goers find out whether Cinderella makes it to the ball, meets her handsome prince (George Wood) and if The Ugly Sisters (Ian Good and John Barr) get their just desserts!
Complete with Wicked Stepmother (Su Douglas), Fairy Godmother (Lynette McMorrough) and the magical coach and horses, Cinderella is the perfect Christmas treat in the sumptuous setting of a real Victorian theatre. This will be the 26th time that Cinderella goes to the ball at Richmond Theatre – she first went in 1904, when Cinderella was the very first pantomime to be presented. The rags to riches tale is still the most popular Christmas and New Year choice in the country.
Featuring a glittering parade of everything you could possibly wish for in a traditional family pantomime – including dazzling costumes, sensational songs, superb dance routines and wonderful comedy – this delightful show will appeal to all ages.
Cinderella is a First Family Entertainment production. Formed in January 2005 and funded and supported by two of the world’s leading theatrical producers (Ambassador Theatre Group and Live Nation), FFE is a pioneering and exciting company created to provide fresh, high quality family productions.
