CARLTON COMMUNICATIONS AND AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP APPOINT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR JOINT VENTURE COMPANY - SCREENSTAGE

Carlton Communications Plc and the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), announce the recent appointment of Simon Flind, a television and film producer, as Executive Director for ScreenStage, the newly formed joint venture company aimed at developing cross-over creative properties with theatre, television and new media potential.

The joint venture, ScreenStage is a rights brokerage company created with the intention of securing and developing rights packages and to work with partners to produce theatre shows that derive either from television/film properties or strong theatrical properties which have exploitation potential across a variety of media.

The newly appointed Executive Director, Simon Flind, a TV and Film Producer, has a wealth of experience in the live sector and has extensive knowledge of translating product between theatre and film/television. Flind’s recent role as Senior Producer at NVC Arts, a Time Warner Television distribution and production company, along with his training in the Law, has provided him with a solid and active understanding of all forms of rights packaging and exploitation. He has also spent the past seven years Producing and Series Producing 20 large-scale performance programmes (many of them live) for Channel 4, including “4 Goes to Glyndebourne”, which have been distributed globally on all forms of television, DVD/video and on-line. Simon has also produced a variety of documentary material and two television film dramas as well as being a Director of Prospect Entertainment, a new independent feature film production and development company.

Sharon Duckworth will also be working alongside Simon as his associate on ScreenStage projects. Sharon has extensive experience of the theatre industry, having worked at both the Everyman and Playhouse in Liverpool and the National Theatre.

Simon is keen to take on the new role and make use of his creative talents within such an enterprising venture: “I am happy and excited at being given the opportunity to be ScreenStage’s first Executive Director. The creation of the new company by Carlton Communications and ATG is an inspired and original idea. Not only will ScreenStage be in the happy position of being able to draw on the considerable combined wealth of properties (existing and future developments) owned by the two companies, but also a wealth of commercial broadcast and theatre experience.”

Howard Panter, board member of ScreenStage and Managing Director of ATG said of the new appointment, “We are delighted Simon has agreed to head up ScreenStage. He offers a strong background in rights packaging, creative judgement and excellent project management and negotiating skills, along with a host of other talents to lead this exciting joint venture into a successful and lucrative future.”
