ATG IMPROVES REGIONAL SALES OPERATION WITH TICKET CENTRE AT NEW WIMBLEDON THEATRE

Issued : 19 July 2004

The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) will be providing customers in the Southern region with an enhanced booking service as it prepares to open the ATG Ticket Centre at the New Wimbledon Theatre later this month.

Personal bookings at Box Offices in the Theatre Royal Brighton and Richmond Theatre will remain, but all telephone sales will be dealt with by the ATG Ticket Centre from Wimbledon. The move of the Ticket Centre to the New Wimbledon Theatre will mean an improved service for customers. Opening times for telephone bookings will be increased to 9am - 9pm, Monday - Saturday and 10am - 6pm on Sunday. New technology is being installed in the Centre that will provide customers with a more personal, informed and above all, a faster service.

A new Box Office staffing structure will be put in place at the Theatre Royal Brighton, the Richmond Theatre and also the New Wimbledon Theatre. ATG will be actively looking to re-deploy any staff within the organisation affected by the re-structure. The creation of a regional management sales team will also create promotion opportunities for existing staff.

The Ticket Centre (currently based at the Albery Theatre in the West End) handles bookings for all 11 of ATG's West End venues, in addition to some of ATG's regional venues, including the New Wimbledon Theatre and New Wimbledon Studio, the Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent and the Churchill Theatre in Bromley. The new Ticket Centre in Wimbledon will be fully operational by the end of July, however sales for the Theatre Royal Brighton and Richmond Theatre will not be transferred to the Ticket Centre until after the summer.

ATG is renowned for its highly successful management of theatre venues throughout the UK and is currently the second biggest theatre group both in the West End and in the regions, with a total of 23 venues. It is also one of the country's foremost theatre producers and has been behind some of the most successful and innovative productions in Britain and internationally, including Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker! and The Rocky Horror Show.

David Blyth, Operations Director, ATG
"We are building the new Ticket Centre in Wimbledon to provide a better service for all our customers. We are committed to the staff in Brighton and Richmond and will work to maintain their employment with ATG. We are very proud of the success we have achieved at the Theatre Royal Brighton and Richmond Theatre and are dedicated to both venues, continuing to take them into bright and prosperous futures."
