ATG'S ROSEMARY SQUIRE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF SOCIETY OF LONDON THEATRE
Issued : 27 June 2005
Rosemary Squire has been elected President of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), to serve for three years until July 2002. She succeeds Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen, who has been President since July 2002.
Rosemary is currently Executive Director of the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). She will combine this with her role as President Elect of SOLT.
Rosemary has served on the SOLT Board of Management since 2000, was a member of the Arts Council Capital Advisory Panel from 2000 - 2005 and is a board member of Donmar Warehouse, Dance Umbrella and Stage One (formerly known as the Theatre Investment Fund). She will be the second only woman President in SOLT’s 97-year history.
Rosemary Squire:
“With the huge challenges facing the theatre business, it is important that producers and theatre owners have been able to make their choice for the Presidency of SOLT. The long-term future of London's historic theatre buildings tops the agenda and with my background in commercial and subsidised theatre, as well as public service, I will build on the initiatives to deliver vital partnership funding.”
Richard Pulford – Chief Executive, SOLT:
“This has been a keenly contested, democratic election process. Rosemary has a long and distinguished record in theatre management and production and will be an excellent advocate for the industry as a whole. I and my staff very much look forward to working with her in leading the Society over the next three years.”
