AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP APPOINTS NEW GROUP HEAD OF HEALTH & SAFETY
Issued : 31 July 2006
Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is delighted to appoint Phillip Brown as Group Head of Health & Safety.
Phillip is responsible for all Health & Safety issues and procedures for ATG, affecting both the theatre venues and productions.
For the last 7 years, Phillip has worked for the National Health Service, initially as Deputy Risk Officer for Croydon & Surrey Downs Community NHS Trust and then as Health & Safety Manager for Sutton & Merton Primary Care Trust. Recently, Phillip became a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Phillip Brown said
“I am excited to join ATG as Group Head of Health & Safety because it combines two of my passions – Health & Safety and theatre. I look forward to nurturing and enhancing a positive attitude to health, safety and risk within ATG, offering both staff and customers the best possible experience within our venues.”
David Blyth, Operations Director, ATG said:
“We are delighted to appoint Phillip as Group Head of Health & Safety. His enthusiasm and wealth of experience will be a tremendous benefit to the company. Phillip replaces David Metz, a highly skilled and much admired H&S specialist in the theatre industry, who died earlier this year and is sadly missed. We believe Phillip is the ideal person to continue the work to which David Metz was deeply committed.”
Co-founded by Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire in 1992, ATG is currently the largest theatre group in the West End and separately, the second largest in the UK regions, with a total of 24 venues. ATG is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind some of the most successful and innovative productions in Britain and internationally including Guys and Dolls, The Rocky Horror Show and Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker!. ATG is co-producing the new musical production of The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess, directed by Trevor Nunn, opening at the Savoy Theatre this November.
