The summer is on its way and South-west London’s ultimate outdoor festival experience is back!
Wimbledon Cannizaro Park Festival 2007 offers the best variety of live entertainment from first class comedy and world famous singers through to opera, classical music and jazz.
The Festival opens on Saturday 14 January with The Comedy Store Players, the inspiration behind the classic TV show, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, who were a massive hit at last year’s Festival. Other comedy highlights include the UK’s best female stand-up Jo Brand (Tues 17 July), Jongleurs Comedy (Thurs 19 July) and Jimmy Carr (Sun 29 July), who will be presenting his brand new stand-up show, Gag Reflex.
This year’s musical menu is better than ever. One of Britain’s best-loved entertainers, Aled Jones, is sure to be a Festival highlight when he joins the Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra for one night only (Mon 23 July). International legend Suzi Quatro has just been confirmed for the Festival and will be performing on Sunday 15 July.
Garden Opera will be presenting their stunning production of Puccini’s emotionally charged opera La Boheme (Wed 18 July) and the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be playing an exhilarating mix of songs from West End musicals along with all your favourite proms tunes in Musical at the Proms (Fri 27 July). From Grease to Rule Britannia, don’t miss this magical evening under the stars!
For jazz lovers, Humphrey Lyttelton (Sun 22 July) will be returning with the ultimate jazz experience and 60s legends The Hollies (Fri 20 July) will be performing some of their greatest hits, including Air That I Breathe, Bus Stop and On A Carousel.
Wimbledon Cannizaro Park Festival 2007 is led by Festival Director Ruth Glick. Previously, Ruth has been Chief Executive of Rambert Dance, Deputy Director of Dance at the Arts Council and organised the first London wide charity concert for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is delighted to be playing a more significant role in producing and presenting this year’s Festival, including the management of the technical, ticketing, marketing and press aspects. ATG, which operates New Wimbledon Theatre and Studio, is the largest theatre owning and operating group in the West End and the second largest in the UK regions, with a total of 23 venues. It is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind many successful and innovative productions including Michael Grandage’s hit production of Guys and Dolls (West End and UK tour), The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess directed by Trevor Nunn (West End), The New Statesman starring Rik Mayall (West End and UK tour) and The Rocky Horror Show starring David Bedella (West End and UK tour).
