AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP KICKS THE HABIT
Issued : 19 June 2007
Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) wants to promote the July 1st No Smoking message by supporting nominated members of staff in assisting them in giving up smoking.
To achieve this, ATG have appointed the help of Life Coach, Georgina Burnett (Presenter for Healthzone on Simply TV) who will be using a combination of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life Coaching techniques to support employees in the transition from smoker to non-smoker, concentrating on lifestyle habits and positive behavioural changes.
ATG's Group Head of Building Services, Richard Kiernan, will become the first employee to undergo sessions with the life coach and his progress will be monitored over a 3 month period. There is also further opportunity for one regional member of staff and one London member of staff to receive the same support in kicking the habit.
The initiative encompasses a full support package that includes patches and gum, but is intended to be more focused on the support of the life coach who can guide and coach each member of staff independently and confidentially over a given period of time.
Ambassador Theatre Group is of particular interest to Georgina as she comes from a strong theatre background herself. Following in the footsteps of her mother, who trained as an actress at the Guildhall, Georgina started acting at the age of 6, when she appeared as Molly in the musical Annie.
Since then she has gone on to play leading characters in a mixture of professional and amateur productions, including The Sound of Music, Evita, Fiddler on the Roof, Hansel & Gretel, Brundibarr (operetta at the Barbican) and The Knocky - to name a few. Georgina also has an A Level in Theatre Studies and continued her theatre work whilst studying English Literature at Warwick University. She has now been TV Presenting for 6 years and still loves going to West End and fringe theatres.
Georgina has a Diploma in NLP from INLPTA (International NLP Training Association) and is trained in coaching by The Coaching Academy.
Russell Miller, ATG’s General Manager of London Theatres;
“The Ambassador Theatre Group is pleased to be positively promoting the implementation of No Smoking across all our venues by offering this great chance of support to staff that are keen to give up smoking at this time - what better opportunity.”
