AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR MILTON KEYNES THEATRE

Issued : 5 November 2007

AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR MILTON KEYNES THEATRE

Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Adlington as the new Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Theatre.

With more than 20 years arts industry experience, Elizabeth joins ATG following a hugely successful career at the Arts Council where she was Director of Touring and International Strategy for seven years. Before that, she was Executive Director of the Oxford Stage Company.

Elizabeth will be taking over the role from current Chief Executive, Rachel Tackley, who is leaving ATG after five years to become the Director of English Touring Theatre.

Milton Keynes Theatre is one of the most successful venues on the UK touring circuit, with audiences averaging over 80% capacity. In recent years, the 1,400-seat venue has grown to attract an audience of nearly half a million people each year. It offers a wonderfully diverse programme of first class dance, drama, musicals and opera and has been instrumental in putting Milton Keynes firmly on the map as the home of Britain’s most successful presenting theatre.

Michael Lynas, ATG Executive Director:
“We are delighted that Elizabeth is joining ATG as the new Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Theatre. Elizabeth has enjoyed an extensive and varied career in the arts industry and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for theatre to the role. I would also like to thank Rachel Tackley for her committed leadership of Milton Keynes Theatre and to wish her every success with English Touring Theatre.”

Elizabeth Adlington:
“I am thrilled to be accepting the role of Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Theatre, in what are certainly exciting times for one of the fastest-growing, most forward-thinking theatre groups in the world. Milton Keynes Theatre is one of ATG’s premiere venues and I am committed to continuing the success story, offering audiences the very best quality entertainment and first-rate customer service. I look forward to joining the team early in the new year.”
