The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), recently confirmed as the preferred operator of The King’s Theatre in Glasgow, has appointed David Williams as the theatre’s new Chief Executive. It is currently anticipated that ATG will take over the operation of The King’s Theatre on 1st July 2002.
David, who lives with his family in Dennistoun, Glasgow, has extensive arts management, production and programming experience. His career has taken him from the Cambridge Arts Theatre in the 80s to a three-year spell as Executive Director of Scottish Ballet via senior posts at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East and English National Ballet.
Since 1999 David has been working as a consultant for a number of arts organisations, most recently at The Queen’s Hall and The Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. He has specialised in strategic reviews, devising business plans and marketing strategies to help venues undergoing new phases in their development. He has also booked Moscow City Ballet in the UK for Victor Hochhauser Ltd.

We look forward to welcoming him into ATG, and supporting him as he establishes The King’s Theatre as one of Scotland’s most vibrant venues.”
David Williams said “I am thrilled to be joining ATG and The King’s Theatre as we approach the centenary of this exquisite Frank Matcham theatre in 2004. Glasgow City Council has done an admirable job in maintaining this historic building and I now look forward to working with the staff to establish it as one of the finest touring theatres in the country.”
David will take up the post of Chief Executive on June 1st.
