Elaine McGowan is the new Head of Marketing at two of the premier venues in the Midlands and North of England, the Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent.
Elaine, who took up the post at the beginning of September, has a wealth of experience in marketing and media planning in the UK arts and entertainment industry where her background includes both the subsidised and commercial sectors.
Elaine began her career at Cheek by Jowl, becoming the company’s first ever PR and Marketing Officer. In 1989 she became a founder director of leading arts advertising agency McCabes and recently set up their first regional office in Manchester. McCabes (now trading as M + H following their recent merger with Haymarket Advertising) currently work with all the major venues and companies across the North and the North West, including Opera North, The Lowry, The Royal Exchange, the Hallé, Clearchannel and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
Over the last decade she has worked on numerous West End shows including
Mamma Mia! West Side Story and Showboat, as well as handling many comedy clients including Eddie Izzard, Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Jo Brand, Julian Clary, Alan Davies and Paul Merton. She has also worked with many venues and companies, including the Royal Court, the RSC and English National Ballet.
Elaine said “I’m really looking forward to heading up the marketing and press team at the Regent Theatre and Victoria Halls, two superb venues which make a huge contribution to the cultural and economic life throughout Stoke- on-Trent and beyond.”
The Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall have been managed by the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) since 1998. ATG operates 10 West End and 10 regional venues.
