The Ambassador Theatre Group: Press: Press Releases
Press Releases
Issued : 7 September 2004
In a move to expand its marketing structure and increase sales, the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has announced plans for a new London marketing strategy.
A combined marketing, sales, groups and development office is being created, headed by Pat Westwell in the newly created post of Marketing Director. Pat will be responsible for the strategic development of the London marketing and sales operation. Pat has been central to ATG’s sales and marketing success, joining the company when it was formed in 1992. She became Marketing Manager at the Ambassadors in Woking (the regional flagship venue), before moving onto become Group Marketing Manager for ATG in 1998 and subsequently Group Head of Marketing in 2001.
The new centralised team will be able to maximise on opportunities arising from the recently-opened ATG Ticket Centre at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Increased cross-selling throughout ATG, the successful expansion of the Groups Sales Department, enhanced data-profiling, reporting and analysis through a new marketing system and the further strategic development of ATG’s West End Friends Scheme – Upstage - are all designed to offer greater value to producers, partners and customers alike.
As part of the strategy, ATG is launching a new partnership - EMG Media and Marketing (EMG), headed by Elaine McGowan and Martin Gray, presently Head and Deputy Head of ATG London Marketing. A highly experienced marketing professional, Elaine has enjoyed an extremely successful career, including as a founder director of McCabes, working on numerous West End shows including Mamma Mia!, West Side Story and Showboat. Elaine and Martin will be joined by Trina Keane, also from ATG’s current London Marketing Department. EMG will provide a new resource for the marketing of ATG co-productions, maintaining the same high quality levels of service and close working relationship with producers and ATG partners.
ATG is the second largest theatre group both in the West End and separately, in the UK regions, with a total of 23 venues. It is also one of the country's foremost theatre producers and has been behind some of the most successful and innovative productions in Britain and internationally, including Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker! and Kristen Scott Thomas in Three Sisters. Recently, ATG launched the new Trafalgar Studios and after huge success with Othello and its co-production of Sweeney Todd, is delighted to bring its production of Simply Heavenly to the venue next month.
Howard Panter, Managing Director, ATG

The wealth of experience, commitment and enthusiasm of the combined team of Pat Westwell and the Sales Department, along with EMG Media and Marketing, will be a tremendous asset to building on ATG’s continued success in the West End and also the regions.”
