AMBASSADOR THEATRE GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW STAFFING ARRANGEMENTS FOR ITS PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT

Issued : 4 May 2005

The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is delighted to announce new staffing arrangements for its highly successful Programming Department.

Sue Morley will be joining the Regional Programming team as a new part-time Programming Associate. Sue will be responsible for programming the Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent and one-night events across ATG's regional venues. For the past 6 years, Sue has been Marketing Manager at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking and will continue in the role on a part-time basis, supported by an enhanced marketing team. Sue has worked at the New Victoria Theatre since it opened in 1992 and has been integral to making it one of the most successful theatres on the touring circuit, with audiences averaging 78%. Its pantomimes are among the most successful in the UK and for the last six years, Box Office sales have topped £1million each year for these productions.

Rachel Tackley will remain with ATG as Head of Programming and will continue to lead the Regional Programming team. From the beginning of June, she will work on a part-time basis to allow her to take on freelance projects, in addition to her responsibilities with ATG. Rachel will be supported by Becky Feltham, who has been promoted to Programming Associate. Rachel programmes ATG’s 13 regional venues and has been responsible for bringing such large-scale musicals as Miss Saigon, Chicago and Cats to ATG’s larger venues, as well as delivering a varied programme of high-quality drama to theatres such as Richmond Theatre and the Theatre Royal Brighton.

Katy Griffiths will continue to deal with ATG’s London Programming and will also become a Programming Associate. The work of the department will be supported by a new assistant, Lottie Berrill, who will also be PA to Michael Lynas, ATG’s Programming Director.

The Ambassador Theatre Group is currently the second largest theatre group in the West End and separately, in the UK regions, with a total of 24 venues including, most recently, the Theatre Royal Glasgow. It is also one of the country’s foremost theatre producers and has been behind some highly successful and innovative co-productions in Britain and internationally, including Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker!, Noises Off and The Rocky Horror Show. ATG is also producing Michael Grandage’s new production of Guys and Dolls (with Clear Channel Entertainment) starring Ewan McGregor and Jane Krakowski, due to open at the Piccadilly Theatre this June.
