“It's all lies!! It isn't true. I read recently in the Press (London Evening Standard) that Joe Public is shunning plays.... Now I don't think so, do you? At least not at The Churchill, where The Unexpected Guest and The Woman in Black kicked off the new post-Pantomime season. We also have Charley's Aunt, directed by Mel Smith & starring the ever popular Stephen Tompkinson and Hay Fever - some say this was Noel Cowards best play of all.
There's even a Bedroom Farce thrown in for good measure..!
If it's sharp, topical political comedy you crave for, Rik Mayall stars in The New Statesman - this is sharper and saucier than ever and will set the place alight....oh, and yes, there are a few musicals interspersed among these fine offerings - it's probably one of the most varied seasons in a long time at The Churchill and something there for everyone.
Whether it's plays or musicals The Churchill serves up the most mouth watering fayre - confirming Theatre is alive & well - The Ability To Regularly Entertain. (THE.A.T.R.E.).”
