CHEKHOV'S MASTERPIECE

Nicholas le Prevost, Neil Pearson and Ronald Pickup star in

Uncle Vanya

If you are afraid of loneliness, don’t marry Anton Chekhov

Chekhov’s masterpiece is a passionate, deeply touching and often very funny exploration of love, desire and loss. Set in a country estate in a small Russian village in the 1890s, Uncle Vanya uncovers the desperate longing, unrequited love and bitter frustrations that surface when an aging professor and his young wife return home.

A stellar cast is led by Nicholas le Prevost, best known for appearances in Life Begins, Poirot, Absolute Power and Silent Witness. Joining him is one of the country’s most popular actors Ronald Pickup who is remembered for his roles in Zulu Dawn and The Thirty Nine Steps, and more recently his TV appearance in Holby City.

Sir Peter Hall is Britain’s most distinguished director of plays, films and operas. He founded the Royal Shakespeare Company and was subsequently Director of the Royal Theatre. His many arts awards and nominations include two Tony Awards and an Olivier Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Cast: Loo Brealey, Faith Brook, Michelle Dockery, Mark Extance, David Ganly, Nicholas le Prevost, Neil Pearson, Antonia Pemberton, and Ronald Pickup.
