Position: Part Time Development Officer

Venue: Theatre Royal, Brighton

Reporting To:Chief Executive

Hours:2-3days per week

Job Purpose
To develop and manage the fund-raising strategy for Theatre Royal Brighton non-ticketed related revenue from all schemes to agreed targets, such as corporate memberships, donors and covenants and sponsorship projects. To research, prepare and execute applications to Trusts and Foundations, statutory funding bodies and corporate sponsorship proposals to support the theatre's community and education programme and any other access initiatives, to agreed targets.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • To develop and deliver a strategy for the recruitment of Centrestage for Theatre Royal Brighton in order to meet revenue targets.
  • To undertake appropriate research to aid recruitment and the development of the schemes.
  • To monitor the structure of the Centrestage scheme to ensure maximum income is raised.
  • To service and manage donations, covenants and gift aid claims and maintain the database.
  • To liase with the Accounts department in Woking regarding the collection of donations, tax claims and gift aid claims.
  • To develop strategies for securing long-term support from charitable trusts and foundations and to manage relationships with current trust funders.
  • To participate in the development of Theatre Royal Brighton relationships with local government bodies, industry flora and relevant organisations.
  • To work closely with Chief Executive and Head of Sales & Marketing in drawing up reports and budgets for existing and future funders and to be aware of ATG’s development strategy and the marketing department's plans and initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate Will Meet the Following Criteria:
  • Experience of working in fundraising
  • Track record of fundraising in the Arts
  • Highly developed verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • A flexible approach to working hours – evening work expected
