A Tchaikovsky gala concert featuring three of the Russian master’s greatest works. Shakespeare’s tale of love and tragedy has inspired many different interpretations, Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture depicts the passionate intensity of literature’s famous ‘star-cross’d’ lovers. John Lill, the UK’s most celebrated pianist, performs the ever-popular First Piano Concerto, with its unashamed lyricism. The ‘Pathétique’ Symphony is perhaps the most personal score that the composer ever wrote, etched with emotional pain and intensity, and intended to be his own requiem.
