Position: Administration Intern (unpaid)

Venue: New Wimbledon Theatre

MAIN PURPOSE
New Wimbledon Theatre has a vacancy for an Administration Intern from w/c 18th August.

New Wimbledon Theatre is a beautiful 1600-seat Edwardian theatre managed by Ambassador Theatre Group. The theatre hosts a huge variety of touring shows, production weeks, community events and film/television shoots. In contrast, the venue also contains the New Wimbledon Studio, a 50-80 seat studio theatre.

The Administration department is the first point of contact for visiting producers, location managers and event organisers, and has an operational overview of the theatre.

The Administration intern will support the Administration & Events Manager in the smooth running of administration, HR and operational systems and the programming of the Studio theatre. He/she will play a key role in office management and research/archive development in preparation for the theatre’s centenary in 2010.

You should be able to commit to at least two days per week (Monday-Friday) for a minimum of 2 months. Regrettably this vacancy is unpaid.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be studying theatre or equivalent at university level, or be a recent graduate.
  • Be reliable, punctual and well presented.
  • Be an excellent communicator with good verbal and written skills and attention to detail.
  • Be an ambitious and quick learner, and highly self motivated.
  • Have knowledge of basic administrative procedures and systems.
  • Have competent IT skills (including Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Be confident, calm and pleasant when dealing with people, both on the telephone and in person.
  • Be prepared to undertake a wide variety of tasks, to be executed to the best of their ability.
  • Be resilient and adaptable with a flexible approach to working some unsociable hours.
