Position: Press & Media Officer
Venue: Richmond Theatre
Salary: £19,500 per annum
One of the most beautiful presenting theatres in London is looking for a dynamic Press and Media professional to join the marketing team. Could that person be you?
MAIN PURPOSE
To assist the Marketing Manager in implementing effective press and media campaigns for Richmond Theatre particularly through liaison with the media to achieve sales targets. To maximise coverage in all sections of the media. To establish the venue as the primary presenting venue in South West London, as a centre of the local community and a venue of national stature as efficiently and effectively as possible within agreed resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To maintain effective and regular contact with the media on behalf of Richmond Theatre and to act as its spokesperson where necessary in order to maximise audience capacity and achieve marketing objectives.
- To establish a high corporate profile for the organisation locally, nationally and in relevant arts publications.
- To maintain an up-to-date database of media contacts to ensure regular coverage by local and national media.
- To write and issue press releases, features, competitions, photocalls and photographs to the media to achieve the marketing objectives above.
- To assist with copy writing and proofing of the brochure as required.
- To liaise with incoming companies to gather information / photographs / competition prizes / arrange interviews for future campaigns.
- To monitor the success of press campaigns through supervision of press cuttings.
- To set up, organise and attend first nights, photocalls and interviews with the media in order to maintain positive external relationships.
- To initiate and event manage publicity stunts in order to maximise sales and assist on the coordination of themed opening nights.
- To work closely with the Education Manager and Development Manager to promote their respective activities.
- To maintain effective and regular contact with national and local organisations such as the Tourist Board to ensure a high profile for Richmond Theatre.
- To liase with programme publishers regarding the theatre’s weekly programmes, undertaking copywriting and proofreading responsibilities, sourcing photos and ensuring they are delivered on time.
- To participate in the department’s creative thinking and brainstorming sessions in order to devise innovative season strategies
