Tamerlano
Tamerlano, a masterpiece of Baroque opera, is set in Antolia, now modern-day Turkey and is based on the story of Tamerlane, the emperor of the Tatars, and his love for Asteria, the daughter of the impisoned Turkish sultan Bajazet. The role of Tamerlano is sung by counter-tenor Max Cencic while sporano Gail Pearson appears as Asteria. Tamerlano is conducted by Glasgow-born Christian Curnyn and directed by John La Bouchaardiere.
