Glyndebourne on Tour - The Magic Flute

Music by Mozart

Mozart’s last completed opera, The Magic Flute, is an exotic fairytale that tells the story of a quest for love and enlightenment.

Mozart conveys the adventure through a consistently entertaining mix of popular melodies, lyrical arias and staggering virtuosity. His musical characterisation is always inspired, whether it be the earthly simplicity of Papageno, the dramatic brilliance of the Queen of the Night or the solemn nobility of Sarastro.

Audiences have been enthralled by this vivid and colourful production by celebrated director Adrian Noble and it will be brought to life for the 2008 Tour by the British conductor Douglas Boyd, making his operatic debut.
