A musical gem to chase the blues away! Simply HeavenlyBook & Lyrics: Langston Hughes Music: David Martin Directed by: Josette Bushell-Mingo 'Simple' sure leads one complicated life. With a wife awaiting an expensive divorce, a girlfriend awaiting a fiancee's ring, and an indefatiguable weakness for the local goodtime girl, things could certainly be less troublesome. But when faced with choosing between temptation and responsibility, he doesn't always pick the right path. With the Young Vic's critically acclaimed cast led by 'showstoppers Ruby Turner and Clive Rowe' (FT), Josette Bushell-Mingo's outstanding production is bursting with heartfelt blues, gospel R&B and jazz, all inc elebration of the spirit of 1950's Harlem. This is a musical that certainly lives up to its name! Chrisopher Colquhoun (pictured below left) plays the lead role of Jesse B.Semple. He is best known to the public from Casualty where he played Dr Simon Kaminski for three years. He has performed with The Royal Shakespeare Company and his musical theatre credits include Five Guys Named Moe, Blues in the Night and West Side Story.
